Assistance for Government and Private Non-Profits After a Disaster (Added 12/21/20)
FEMA helps state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and certain types of private non-profit organizations respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies. After an event like a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or wildfire, communities need help to cover their costs for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and restoring public infrastructure. Cultural institutions may also need help covering their costs for addressing damage to facilities and collections.
