Training the Next Generation of Conservators

Partnering with the Smithsonian Affiliations and Ana G. Mendez University, SCRI presented a virtual two day workshop on emergency conservation as part of a larger program for students, faculty, and members of the cultural community in Puerto Rico. The entire program was designed to encourage students to pursue conservation studies, as the community wants to build local capacity. Always a partner with the community, SCRI did its sessions in conjunction with ACEPR, a local preparedness and response network SCRI helped foster after the 2017 hurricanes.

As part of a presentation for the community, SCRI and ACEPR also offered a public demonstration on Save Your Family Treasures (SYFT) which focused on protecting family heirlooms under threat from disaster.
